The Crisis Group Global Briefing
The International Crisis Group is pleased to announce its first-ever Global Briefing: a two-day, high-level event led by Crisis Group’s senior staff, examining urgent issues and solutions concerning major conflict flashpoints across the globe. The briefing offers the opportunity to hear from and interact with over twenty of Crisis Group’s top experts, assembled at this single event focused on the prevention and resolution of deadly conflicts.
Dates & Location
The briefing will take place on 22 & 23 October 2009 in Brussels at 149 Avenue Louise in the meeting room on the ground floor.

The briefing will take place in English, and will focus on relevant issues and solutions for the coming 6-12 months in the selected regions and countries.
Each session will involve interaction and discussion between panelists and participants, and will run according to the Chatham House Rule.
The briefing will be limited to a maximum of 50 participants.
Profile of Candidates
The briefing is primarily targeted at mid-level and senior representatives from governments, multilaterals, think tanks, NGOs, media, foundations, corporations and universities. Crisis Group also welcomes applications from others, including junior professionals and graduate students.
Details & Costs
The participation fee is 950 euros, payable within 15 business days following receipt of a letter of admission. The fee includes coffee breaks, lunches and a private reception where incoming Crisis Group President & CEO, Louise Arbour, will give a special address.
For those coming from outside Brussels, Crisis Group has reserved single rooms at a nearby hotel. Participants will be responsible for booking and paying for the rooms themselves, following acceptance to the briefing.
Details concerning payment of the course fee and any hotel booking, will be contained in the acceptance letters sent to successful applicants.
Application process
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until 30 July. Successful applicants will be notified of the results of their applications on or before 28 August. There are two application options. An individual application is an application by one person to attend the full briefing. A joint application is an application by two persons working within the same institution, allowing one to attend Day 1 of the briefing and the other to attend Day 2. The participation fee is the same whether the application is individual or joint (i.e., the total fee for a joint application is 950 euros).
