17-XI-11

Dear friends,

Many things are constantly happening in the world. Some are important others not so much. But we have to be aware of how fortunate we are: We have a precious human life! We are lucky to be still alive!

H.H.Dalai Lama in Japan... ...and in Mongolia.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has returned to Dharamsala after his trip to Japan and Mongolia with great success.

The Mongolian people have endured a lot of pressure from the Chinese Government for inviting the Dalai Lama to visit their country. Mongolia and Tibet have a long relationship dating back to the times of the Third Dalai Lama. As you may know, the title of "Dalai Lama" comes from Mongolia and it means "Ocean of Wisdom". The title was bestowed to Sonam Gyatso, the Third Dalai Lama by the Mongol chief Altan Khan, great-great-grandson of Genghis Khan. Itīs true that the Mongol emperor was not silly at all and when he converted to Buddhism he realized the great wisdom of the Dalai Lama.

In Tibet the situation remains very tense but the good news are that as from November 3rd there have not been any more immolations.  Letīs hope it will continue this way since we do not want to see more losses.

The Chinese Government keeps trying to silence the Tibetans, now offering material possessions to control their convictions, as you can see in the editorial of La Vanguardia: "Beijing offers electricity, TVīs and telephones to the Tibetan monks". But we Tibetans do not seek TVīs or telephones but Freedom and Peace. We are not silly.
