Debriefing of the EU-China Human Rights Dialogue

Brussels, Belgium

The UNPO Brussels office will attend a debriefing of the EU-China Human Rights Dialogue that took place in Beijing, June 14-16. The meeting will offer gather civil society organization in a discussion with officials from the European External Action Service on the outcomes of the meeting.

 



July 11-15th

4th Session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

Geneva, Switzerland

The theme for this year’s EMRIP session is indigenous peoples’ right to participate in decision-making.   There remains debate regarding indigenous decision-making processes and organizations and how they can compliment or bring their concerns to state governance institutions.  In many instances, indigenous communities remain vulnerable to top-down State interventions which lead to land repossession, ethnic conflict, human rights violations and the loss of sustainable livelihoods.

UNPO at CCPR

Geneva, Switzerland

Ethiopia will be under review for its compliance of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights during the 102nd session in July.  UNPO represents the Ogaden and the Oromo peoples who face marginalization, resource extraction and government violence.

Pictures illustrating the importance of development of sustainable energy and transport are wanted to highlight the importance of environment-friendly ways to produce energy and transport goods to safeguarding the future.  Welcome themes include renewable energy, innovation, new technologies, international and trans-boundary cooperation, sustainable vehicles and fuels, environmental protection, adaptation of users’ behaviours and more.  More information is available here.
