Breaking the link between money in politics and corruption requires dedicated effort. Public institutions that oversee political finance must be protected from political interference and have the authority to take on powerful stakeholders. Many groups must work together to create a legal and social framework to deter the corrupting influence of money in politics — including lawmakers, political parties, civil society groups, media and voters.
